Faith Leader Advocacy for Malaria Elimination

faith leaders uniting to raise their voices and speak truth to power

FLAME leaders have come together in a broad-based civil society movement to engage decision-makers in advocacy for malaria elimination, resulting in:

Adoption of policies and strategies that accelerate malaria elimination.

Implementation of policies and strategies that accelerate malaria elimination.

Allocation of necessary funding for these policies.

Advocacy-focused

While faith leaders are able to play many important roles in the effort to eliminate malaria, our action within FLAME movement focuses on advocating for good policies, fully funded and well implemented.

Interfaith

While many issues divide us, malaria is a common threat to us all. Faith leaders from all faith traditions can find common ground in the fight for malaria elimination.

Led by faith leaders

Faith communities typically play an important and valued role in the regions of the world where malaria is endemic. As faith leaders, we have a moral motivation to work on behalf of the well-being of the people and speak with moral authority.

A movement, not an organization

FLAME faith leaders are first and foremost leaders in their own faith communities. We join together with other faith leaders in the FLAME movement voluntarily, out of the conviction that no one should die from malaria, and driven by the motivation of putting our faith into action.

Technical and administrative support is provided through a small secretariat in each FLAME country.

“With the support from Lusaka, we have been able to serve our students better than ever.”
